For Home-schooling & Alternative Learning. Some parents do not wish to put their children into the regular traditional school system and board syllabus from early childhood.
Instead, they prefer home schooling or flexible learning, where along with academics, the child’s inner knowledge, extra skills, and talents can be identified and nurtured to a higher level through NIOS Open Basic Education (OBE).
How OBE Works
Through OBE, children can be admitted directly to levels equivalent to Class 3, Class 5 or Class 8, based on age and readiness.

🔄 Re-enter Mainstream Education
This makes it a recognised pathway for home-schooled or alternatively-schooled children to re-enter mainstream education whenever needed. After completing OBE Level C (Class 8 equivalent), learners can seamlessly continue with NIOS secondary (Class 10) and senior secondary (Class 12) courses.
